General Dentistry - Cleanings, Fillings, Crowns, Bridges, Root Canals - MA

Generally, Dentistry is preventative and it is recommended that you visit your dentist once every six months to ensure proper oral hygiene. General Dentistry is the care, hygiene, and maintenance of you teeth as well as the prevention, treatment, and diagnosis of different conditions affecting your teeth and gums. General dentistry includes many procedures such as cleanings, fillings, dentures, crowns, bridges, gum disease, and root canals.
- Cleaning - you should have a cleaning at least twice a year.
- Fillings - used to repair the structure of a tooth once it has been damaged. Dr. Johnson will educate you so you can make an informed decision regarding what material should be used to fill your teeth.
- Dentures - are used to replace missing or damaged teeth which can not be repaired otherwise.
- Crowns-porcelain crowns, also known as caps, repair damaged or decayed teeth and restore tooth structure. Newton Prosthodontics uses CAD/CAM technology to create your new crown. Dr. Johnson’s main goal is to create crowns and a gum-line that shows a natural smile that also feels comfortable for you.
- Bridges - Dental bridges replace missing teeth with artificial replacements. The artificial tooth is held in place by composite materials that are anchored to your surrounding teeth and span the space where the missing teeth were.
- Gum disease/periodontal care-early gum disease may require cleaning and scaling every three months. Later stage gum disease sometimes requires cleaning below the gum line to remove tartar or calculus or to remove damage near the root.
- Root canal - this is necessary when the soft tissue, or pulp, within the root canal becomes inflamed or infected. This tissue needs to be removed and the canal shaped and cleaned, then Dr. Johnson caps the damaged tooth.
