Prosthodontists are THE Specialists in Dental Implants and Aesthetic Improvements

Joseph Coupal - Thursday, August 11, 2011

Technological advancements in Dental Implants are very exciting. As we know there is really nothing that makes an impression or speaks about a person more than a smile.

Dental implants have been around a long time, and they are essentially root replacements for restorations of teeth. They can be utilized to replace a single missing tooth, replace numbers of missing teeth, and they can support a whole dentition of teeth

There are numerous situations that are appropriate for dental implants. In the  past dentists have had to invade the structures of the other teeth. Implants are great because that no longer needs to be done. So single or multiple teeth can be replaced, or for people wearing dentures, the dentures can be stabilized. Even better, denture wearers can now receive fixed teeth.

The technology is also improving over time. With the newest and latest technology, prosthodontists can place more implants in a mouth, the healing time is shorter and the implants last longer. So the improvements to the technology are really three-fold.

Dental patients with who are seeking aesthetic improvements to their teeth should see a prosthodontist for implants because they really are the specialist in replacing teeth. Prosthodontists have more education after dental school. Prosthodontists are the primary architects for full mouth reconstruction and aesthetic situations.

There is no tool in business that is more important than your smile.

Full Mouth Reconstruction Can Rebuild Your Smile

Joseph Coupal - Thursday, July 07, 2011

Full mouth reconstruction and full mouth restoration are terms to describe the process of rebuilding or simultaneously restoring all of the teeth in both the upper and lower jaws.

Full mouth reconstruction typically involves general or restorative dentists (performing procedures like crowns, bridges and veneers), and can incorporate a number of dental specialists unless you choose to use a prosthodontists whose is educated and skilled to perform all of the necessary procedures.

The need for full mouth reconstruction may result from:

  • Teeth that have been lost due to decay or trauma.
  • Teeth that have been injured or fractured.
  • Teeth that have become severely worn as a result of long-term acid erosion (foods, beverages, acid reflux) or tooth grinding.
  • Ongoing complaints of jaw, muscle and headache pain requiring adjustments to the bite.
Your prosthodontist will examine your mouth to determine the extent of the problem and your treatment options.
The condition of your teeth will determine what restorative procedures may be needed, such as porcelain veneers or full-coverage crowns, inlays or onlays, bridges or implants.

A stable bite, one in which you are not in pain when you close your mouth or chew and one that does not cause wear or destruction of your teeth, is important to your overall oral health. Occlusal changes need to be taken into consideration when your dentist plans your restorations.

The color, shape, size and proportion of your teeth, and how they appear in relation to your gums, lips, mouth, profile and face, are also important factors in full mouth reconstruction treatment.

Dr. Johnson does very sophisticated work and has performed this procedure multiple times for a whole spectrum of needs. He sees some of the most demanding, discriminating, and socially visible people in all of New England and is not intimidated by people who have set the bar very high. Contact Newton Prosthodontics to schedule an evaluation.

Full Mouth Reconstruction will Relieve your Discomfort and Give you a Perfect Smile

Joseph Coupal - Thursday, May 05, 2011

Full Mouth Reconstruction is the process of rebuilding and/or restoring all of the teeth in your upper and lower jaw. It could involve many methods of dentistry to create the correct relationship between your gums, bones, muscles, and teeth. Your mouth is very complex; without the proper bite, chewing becomes an issue, teeth can become worn, the jaw can become sore, often migraines start. Veneers and crowns, dental implants, bridges and teeth whitening are all potential procedures used in a full mouth reconstruction. The results are a perfect smile every time.

Missing or crowded teeth, injured or fractured teeth, poor dental care, age, severely worn teeth, or the need to adjust the bite – all can contribute to this condition. When your teeth are out of ideal alignment, each time your jaw closes, your mouth, jaw and muscles are damaged. Tooth issues and pain in your jaw, neck and head often occur as a result. With full mouth reconstruction, these problems are addressed and patients find relief, improved function and better oral health. But also, they get a beautiful smile and a more youthful appearance.

With full-mouth reconstruction the entire mouth is beautified with a more comfortable bite and less tension in the jaw and neck.

If you have a bad bite, or if you have worn, broken, decayed or missing teeth, not only are you most likely uncomfortable, but your smile is holding you back as well. Dr. Ryne Johnson does very sophisticated work and has performed full mouth reconstruction multiple times for a whole spectrum of needs.

Most importantly, with full mouth reconstruction, the relationship between all the facets of your jaw and mouth will be ideal; therefore, your discomfort will disappear. But just as important, a new smile will boost your self confidence in your interactions with others; this will be what truly changes your life.

Cosmetic Dentistry Will Enhance Your Smile

Joseph Coupal - Thursday, April 21, 2011

When people think of cosmetic surgery, they rarely think of cosmetic dentistry. Cosmetic dentistry deals with the aesthetic aspect of the face. More and more often people are looking for an updated or enhanced smile. It is different from traditional dentistry because its main emphasis is on beauty. Nevertheless, there can also be an improvement in functionality of the teeth after performing cosmetic procedures.

From comfort to look to usability, many people want to enhance their smile. Not only are there many different reasons to undergo cosmetic dentistry, there are also a multitude of different forms of smile enhancement. Cosmetic dentistry employs various dental techniques to improve the appearance of your teeth and give you a beautiful smile and it is becoming more sought after these days.

Cosmetic dentistry deals mainly with external appearance of our teeth and mouth. Whether from accidents or through genetics, your teeth may have been broken or have grown in a way that causes you general discomfort. If orthodontic work has not been successful, or is not possible in some cases, the best alternative for many is cosmetic dentistry.

Others undergo cosmetic dentistry in order to enhance their smile. Cosmetic dentistry is becoming more and more common for the general population. People in every industry and field are turning to cosmetic dentists to get the smile they have always wanted.

Often people do not even realize that their dental work is cosmetic. Dentures, bleaching and invisible braces are all part of cosmetic dentistry. There are a number of cosmetic dental procedures available today. Some of the most common are dental bleaching, veneers, and dental implants.

So, whether you are interested in cosmetic dentistry for the look or for comfort or both, Dr. Johnson at Newton Prosthodontics can provide you with excellent care and quality when it comes to veneers, bleaching, full mouth reconstruction, or any dental procedure, cosmetic or otherwise.
